Top Ten Natural Resources of the Creative Multipreneur

Creative multipreneurs tend to enjoy and rely on the natural abilities associated with creative, right-brained thinking. You may have forced yourself to "fit in" by using your linear-thinking, logic brain while in school or on the job, but you probably feel more comfortable using these natural resources.

1.  Visualizing the big picture  – We tend to see the big picture rather than the details before we start moving toward our goals—beginning with the end in mind.

2.  Recognizing the patterns – We focus our attention on the relationships and patterns between the details rather than on the details themselves.

3.  Thinking in terms of how things function – In proceeding towards a goal we want to know the purpose and how it is to be used before we determine the steps (details) it will take to achieve that goal.

4.  Learning by doing – Our preferred method of learning is to just jump in and do it rather than reading or listening about how to do it. We learn to play an instrument, paint a picture, write a book, or learn a new software program by immersing ourselves in the process.

5.  Expressing high levels of activity – Our curious and exploring minds are usually operating at warp speed.  Most of us enjoy physical activity of some kind. We are verbally expressive and often have big emotions.

6.  Operating from a worldview that comes from within – We are guided from our own inner compass rather than from outside ourselves. We listen to our inner voice to do what "feels" right.

7.  Feeling a high level of sensitivity – Our senses of sight, sound, touch, taste and smell, as well as intuition are very highly tuned. We are empathic and responsive to our environments, as well as to other people.

8.  Tuning into our senses – Our senses are like a radar. We rely on our strong ability to sense what is going on rather than thinking about it first. We simply know, and respond accordingly.

9.  Acting as early adopters and quickly responsive – Because we are highly sensitive, blessed with a wide range of emotions and learn by doing to reach a goal, we may be thought of as reactive. With our big picture thinking we often respond to situations that others may not even know exists yet.

10. Resonating with nature's rhythms – We tend to use our own internal clock to get things done and to take care of our body's needs, such as sleep and eating meals. We may work at night and sleep during the day. We often work on important projects only when we feel creative and in the flow. When we allow ourselves to trust our innate timing, we always get things done on time.

I love number three, "Thinking in terms of how things function". To me this is what makes up a successful, creative, multipreneur! An inventor wouldn't be a successful inventor without this trait!!

Thank you so much for your comments.

I am definitely one of those dance-to-my-own rhythm people, too. I haven't set an alarm clock for years and, in fact, do not even have a clock in my bedroom. Yet I always wake up exactly when I am supposed to.

Here's to lounge chair sleeping in the middle of the day!

Love this post, Susan, especially the part about finding our own rhythms. I woke up this morning with an idea and even though it was still dark, I got up and started to implement it. Three hours later I was still creating.

I need to rest during the day and I am having a really hard time doing that. Today, I took my book and my lounge chair in to the yard to be outside. I did fall asleep. Yay.

I definitely run to my own sense of timing!
